Nabatieh is the inland southern governorate, south and east of the coastal South Governorate. Its capital is the city of El Nabatieh. The cazas are El Nabatieh, Bent Jbeil, Marjaayoun, and Hasbaya. The land rises from the Litani valley toward the highlands of Marjaayoun and Hasbaya, with Mount Hermon (Jabal el-Sheikh) on the eastern edge and the Hasbani among the Jordan’s headwaters. It is distinct from the coastal south: fewer ports, more villages, and the market town of Nabatieh at its center.
