Keserwan-Jbeil is Lebanon’s newest governorate, established in 2017 from two cazas that had been part of Mount Lebanon. Its capital is Jounieh. It is made of Kesrwane and Jbeil, running from Jounieh Bay and the Nahr Ibrahim (Adonis River) up the coast to Byblos (Jbeil), one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world and a UNESCO site. Inland are mountain towns and winter resorts. The coast is dense with suburbs; a short drive inland, the land turns steep and wooded.
