Mount Lebanon Governorate runs along the coast and the western mountain range south and east of Beirut. Its capital is Baabda. After Kesrwane and Jbeil were split off in 2017, the governorate is the cazas of Baabda, Aley, El Meten, and the Chouf. It is Lebanon’s most populous governorate, taking in the mountain suburbs of the capital, the coast toward Damour, and inland towns such as Beiteddine and Deir el Qamar in the Chouf. The name Mount Lebanon is also the historical name of the range that gives the country its name.
