South Governorate runs down the Mediterranean coast from the Sidon (Saida) area to Tyre (Sour), with Jezzine in the hills inland. Saida is the capital and, with Sour, one of Lebanon’s oldest ports; Tyre is a UNESCO-listed Phoenician and Roman site. The cazas are Saida, Jezzine, and Sour. The coast here is lined with citrus and banana groves, while Jezzine sits in the southern foothills of Mount Lebanon. Nabatieh, the inland south, is a separate governorate.
